Business Development Associate (Seattle based)

Job Description- Business Development Associate (Seattle based):

Reporting to the Business Development Manager in our Vancouver head office, this Seattle based position will play a critical role in the company’s growth as we continue to expand our presence in Washington. This role encompasses 3 core responsibilities, along with other functions as may be required to ensure that key performance indicators for the business are achieved:

  1. Work with Business Development Manager to build and manage targeted sales pipelines based on the company strategy
  2. Work with Marketing to prepare and execute targeted campaigns and coordinate appropriate customer outreach as directed
  3. Coordinate sales operations activities from quotes through to follow-up orders and customer retention/service

You’ll be responsible for developing the company’s market position in the U.S by identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining strategic relationships and supporting marketing initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build and manage targeted sales pipelines:

  • Work with Business Development Manager to establish clear deliverables and timelines for each customer segment and pipeline
  • Research prospective customers, create lists, review markets, products and competitors as required to provide solid insights to guide successful customer conversion
  • Coordinate sales materials, including sample kits, and conduct outreach campaigns to maximize customer engagement
  • Coordinate event and trade show materials as required to support marketing and business development plans
  • Support the Business Development Manager in the preparation and maintenance of pipelines, tracking results and KPIs as required
2. Work with Marketing to prepare campaigns:

  • Coordinate the development of targeted campaigns and conduct outreach to prospective customers by phone, email and in-person, as directed, to meet campaign and overall sales goals
  • Act as point of contact for sales inquiries from the company website, campaigns and/or by phone to ensure that customer questions are answered, and orders are processed and fulfilled, as appropriate
  • Manage current customer databases and work with Marketing to deploy appropriate retention campaigns
3. Coordinate sales operations activities:

  • Prepare quotes, sales agreements and purchase orders for new and existing customers, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete for successful order fulfillment and customer delivery
  • Work with Finance/Operations to set up new customers in company systems, prepare vendor set-ups as required by the customer to ensure invoicing and inventory can be completed effectively
  Provide support to the business as required:

  • Evaluate prospective customers, market conditions and competitor data, attend events, organize product samples and/or collateral for our collective business development goals. We’re a small, growing business, so we all pitch in to do some of the dirty work.

 

Qualifications:

You’re motivated to grow businesses and take on roles with more responsibility as they grow. Of course, being a leader means you work well with people and can find clever ways to make things happen.

Capable – you’ve got a business degree and 2-3 years experience in sales, B2B business development, consumer goods or some interesting combination of all of the above. Experience selling green products or plastics could be an asset, but certainly not essential.

Compensation and Work Hours:

Monthly salary dependent on experience, plus potential for commissions.

As a remote associate, you will need:

  • Ability to travel to Canada (Vancouver)
  • Reliable vehicle for transportation
