Finance Associate (Full-Time & Part-Time)

We are currently seeking both a Full-time and Part-Time Finance Associate.

Finance Associate (Full-time & Part-time) – Are you ready to Advance your Finance Career to the Next Level While Helping the Environment?

In this role, you’ll report directly to the Finance Manager, along with working directly with the VP of Finance. This role encompasses 3 core responsibilities, along with other functions as may be required to ensure that key performance indicators for the business are achieved:

  1. Process accounting and financial transactions
  2. Produce initial review and report for use in planning and decision making
  3. Perform various operations and sales fulfillment duties

You’ll be responsible for the crucial role of handling the day-to-day activities of the accounting and finance department, involving a wide range of accounting duties and functions to support the smooth operation of the finance department. You will be working closely with various departments to produce and maintain various spreadsheets and dashboards to aid in analysis and insight provision. Your drive to be in the thick of things and get stuff done will ensure success in this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process accounting and financial transactions:

  • Work with the Finance Manager and VP of Finance to establish clear deliverables and timelines to meet reporting deadlines
  • Apply basic accounting principles and knowledge to perform routine accounting activities
  • Process accounts payables, accounts receivables, etc., by thoroughly verifying and recording into accounting systems, ensuring conformance to financial reporting and best practice accounting standards
  • Manage GL activities, maintenance, account reconciliations and monthly close processes
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, investigate and resolve discrepancies and inquiries
  • Assist in budget and forecast preparation
2. Produce initial review and report for use in planning and decision making:

  • Generate spreadsheets and presentation dashboards to support weekly Business Process Management meeting
  • Provide analytical data for finance, operations, business development, R&D and others
  • Evaluate and update information and carry out validation of data for accuracy in both accounting system and dashboards
  • Organize and update business intelligence tools in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
3. Perform various operations and sales fulfillment duties:

  • Nurture relationships with customers, suppliers and business partners
  • Support operations and business development team to ensure smooth business operations
  • Work alongside with operations to improve the accuracy of financial reporting and data analysis
  • Deliver analytical data and financial administration support to finance, operations, business development, product development and other internal departments

You’re motivated to grow businesses and take on roles with more responsibility as they grow. Of course, being a leader means you work well with people and can find clever ways to make things happen.

 

Flexible – things rarely go according to plan. You understand that the ambiguous nature of business means you’ll often be changing priorities and doing things outside your comfort zone. You’re also open to working extended or unusual hours to meet deadlines and chip in as part of the team.

 

Capable – you’ve got a Degree in Accounting/Finance or Economics (or equivalent education/experience), eye for detail and desire to probe further into data. You’ll need demonstrable experience using Microsoft Excel/ Spreadsheets, general accounting procedures, and comfortable using accounting system (Quickbooks Online). Experience in the grocery/food or plastics industry could be an asset, but certainly not essential.

 

Compensation and Work Hours:

Full-Time:

Monthly salary is dependent on experience.

 

Part-Time:

Hourly salary is dependent on experience. The successful candidate must be able to work from our office minimum 3 days of the week, preferably Monday, Thursday and Friday.

 

This is a part-time role with potential converting into full-time employment depending on performance.
