Managing Disabilities and Duty to Accommodate | Speaking Engagement with BC Notaries

Pivot HR Services frequently speaks at conferences and events. We partnered with Exalt HR Consulting to present Managing Disabilities and the Duty to Accommodate at the BC Notaries’ Annual General Meeting and Conference on September 23rd, 2017 at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC.

 

 

Managing Disabilities and Duty to Accommodate

In the session, we presented Human Rights legislation as it pertains to employers’ duty to accommodate employees with disabilities. Participants learned:

  • how to recognize when there is an issue
  • how to address it appropriately
  • how to secure medical information for planning a leave and/or accommodation in accordance with privacy legislation

We reviewed the employer’s rights when accessing information from the employee and physician during the leave, hiring replacements, developing return to work schedules, and the concept of frustration of employment.
