Overview:

Managing in a unionized environment has become increasingly complex due to changes to collective agreements, employment standards, labour laws and disciplinary procedures. In this training, Pivot HR Service’s provides practical guidance for maximizing workforce productivity within a unionized setting.  Participants will develop both management and union best practices on complex issues such as performance management, investigations and grievance management, and will apply the collective agreement in practical context.

  • Promoting Positive Relationships

Measuring Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training, participants will understand:

  • The importance of administering the collective agreement consistently;
  • How to conduct comprehensive and effective workplace investigations;
  • How to apply the principles of progressive discipline to make disciplinary decisions that are in compliance with legislation;
  • The process for managing non-culpable employee performance issues;
  • The importance of effective grievance management and the role of an arbitrator;
  • How to promote positive union management relationships

Program Delivery & Assessment Methods:

Pivot HR Services instructors continuously assess participants comprehension and ability to apply learning concepts through a combination of facilitation, interactive discussion, group work, case studies, and relevant real-world examples. Pre & Post learning self-evaluations are delivered to provide participants with a measure of their knowledge and skills gained from training. Following training, participants are encouraged to connect with instructors via phone and e-mail should they need assistance and have questions to follow.
